Rose Rocks
Rose Rock Pharmacy is located in Glenpool, OK but Jenks is literally across the road from us and Sapulpa is a mere half-mile away. We wanted our pharmacy to represent all of those that we have the opportunity to serve instead of having a city specific name. Therefore, we landed on the name of our state's rock.

State Rock
Rose rocks are reddish-brown sandy crystals of barite that resemble a rose in full bloom. Each "petal" is a single crystal of barite. Other than minor occurrences in Kansas, Morocco, and Australia, the barite roses are unique to Oklahoma. They were named the official state rock of Oklahoma in 1968.
Oklahoma Specific
Barite crystals with corners are somewhat common around the world, but rose rocks are extremely rare on a global scale. This is because the formation of the rounded edges are caused by an unknown factor in our unique Oklahoma geology.
Rose Rock Hunting
We took a family trip to go look for Rose Rocks and as you can tell from the photos, we had a great time. They can be found all over the state but are more concentrated in areas just east of Oklahoma City. If you know of super secret spots like this one, you can find hundreds of Rose Rocks. Pro Tip: It's not really that secret, we'll tell you all about it!
